COSC 236: Submitting your assignments

Course Home Page

Note: these procedures have been revised. Please follow these instructions for all labs starting with lab 3.

All assignments for this course will be submitted electronically, via file shares acessible from your university login.

Each week, you will complete the assignment and then create a single document - in Word, or in a text editor - containing all of your answers to the various problems. This can be done by cutting and pasting your code into a document file. Answers to short-answer questions can be provided in the file along with the code.

Your work should be copied to the file share by the start of the lab section each Wednesday. Time stamps will be checked and late homework will not be accepted. Please note that it is your responsibility to submit the homework on time. It is not my responsibility to make sure that the share is available, networks are working, etc. If the campus network crashes ten minutes before lab starts and you have not yet submitted your assignment, you may be out of luck.

The instructions for submitting your assignments are as follows:

  1. Open your Windows explorer and go to the S: drive. If you do not see an S: drive, click on the "cmd" icon on the desktop, type "labshare" in the window that opens, and press return.
  2. Select the 2362 directory.
  3. This directory contains a subdirectory for each student in the class. These subdirectories are named by your Towson U. account name. Find your directory and select it.
  4. Each assignment should be saved in a file with the number of the lab: ("Lab 3", etc.) This file should go in the top directory of your space on the share. You can use your space on the share to store other files - including your visual studio work files, but the document containing your answers will be used for grading purposes.

  5. If you need to include output from your program, go to the console window and right-click on it. Choose "Select All" from the popup menu. Then, click on the console window's title bar, and select "copy" from the pop-up menu. Go to your document window and select "paste".

Please send me email if you find any questions or problems with these notes.
