COSC 237: Submitting your assignments
All assignments for this course will be submitted electronically,
via file shares accessible from your university login.
Each week, you will complete the assignment and then store your answers to the exercises in the appropriate folder on your share.
Your work should be copied to the file share by the start of the
lab section each Wednesday. Time stamps will be checked and late
homework will not be accepted. Please note that it is your
responsibility to submit the homework on time. It is not my
responsibility to make sure that the share is available, networks are
working, etc. If the campus network crashes ten minutes
before lab starts and you have not yet submitted your assignment,
you may be out of luck.
The instructions for submitting your assignments are as follows:
- Open your Windows explorer and go to the S: drive. If you do not
see an S: drive, click on the "cmd" icon on the desktop,
type "labshare" in the window that opens, and press return.
- Select the cosc237003 directory.
- This directory contains a subdirectory for each student in the
class. These subdirectories are named by your Towson U. account
name. Find your directory and select it.
- Each assignment should be saved in a file with the number
of the lab: ("Lab 3", etc.) This file should go in the top
directory of your space on the share. You can use your space on
the share to store other files, but the document containing your answers will be used for grading purposes.
Please leave your .class files in the directory for the assignment, along with your Java files. This will assist the TA as he grades your work.
Accessing the Shared Drive An On-campus (but not in the lab) computer
To access the shared drive from some campus computers, you need to map a network drive. Assuming you're using Windows, the directions are as follows:
- Open an explorer window
- Choose "Map Network Drive" from the "Tools" menu.
- Choose a drive letter and then type "\\tern\labshare" as the Folder.
- Press "Finish"
Accessing the Shared Drive From An Off-campus computer
You will need to connect to the campus software through the Virtual Private Network. This will let your computer act is if it were located on-campus.
Once you are connected, map the appropriate drive, using steps similar to those followed above. You will have to choose the login correctly:
- Open an explorer window
- Choose "Map Network Drive" from the "Tools" menu.
- Choose a drive letter and then type "\\tern\labshare" as the Folder.
- Choose the link that says "different user name"
- For user name, type "towsonu\" followed by your TU user name.
- Type in your password and press "OK" on the login dialog.
- Press "Finish"
